Whiteside Newsletter #35 - May 29, 2026
To Our Whiteside Families,
What an exciting week it has been at Whiteside! Our students have been busy learning, exploring, and making memories both in and outside the classroom. Some students have enjoyed visits to the Nature Park, spent time planting and caring for our school gardens, or participated in Jay’s Care baseball activities alongside students from Cook Elementary. Our primary classes have also experienced the wonder of watching butterflies hatch and take their first flight into nature. In addition, other students have enjoyed enriching field trips to the Vancouver International Children’s Festival and/or watched a special performance of Clue at McRoberts Secondary.
These experiences help bring learning to life and create lasting memories for our students. We are grateful to our staff, volunteers, and families who help make these opportunities possible.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our Parent and Caregiver Appreciation Drive-Through. Our Whiteside community came out in full force, and it was wonderful to connect with so many families. The event was a small way for our staff to express our gratitude for your ongoing support, partnership, and commitment to your children's learning. Thank you for being such an important part of our Wolfpack community!
Thank you for your care and support. You make Whiteside a special community to learn, teach, and play.
Ms. Sara Lai, Acting Principal

WHITESIDE INFORMATION AND EVENTS
Movathon Fundraiser – Donations Due June 5
Whiteside PAC is excited to organize a special fundraiser to help beautify our school community. Renowned mural artist Sandeep Johal will be creating a mural inside the front entrance of Whiteside Elementary, with hopes of expanding this inspiring artwork into the gymnasium as well.
To support this project, students have brought home pledge sheets encouraging exercise, movement, and healthy activity for a meaningful cause. Throughout the fundraiser, students will be moving, dancing, walking, and staying active while helping create a vibrant and welcoming space for our school community. Cash and/or cheques for pledges should be brought to Whiteside. All by June 5th!
There will also be prizes for the students and classes who raise the most funds. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we work together to make Whiteside an even brighter place to learn and grow.
Let’s move for Whiteside!

Allergy Alert:
All families should be aware that Whiteside School has many students with severe, life-threatening food allergies. Some classrooms may be designated nut free to protect the health of these students.
