Board of Education Approves Strategic Plan 2026–2030
At its public meeting on January 21, 2026, the Richmond Board of Education approved the Richmond School District Strategic Plan 2026–2030. This plan sets the district’s strategic direction for the next five years and reflects a shared commitment to learning, well-being and continuous improvement across our school community.
The strategic plan was developed through a thoughtful and collaborative process that began in early 2025. Over several months, students, staff, families, partner groups and community members shared their perspectives through surveys, engagement sessions, focus groups and consultations. This input was carefully reviewed and informed the development of the plan, ensuring it reflects both the strengths of our district and the priorities of our community.
The strategic plan identifies four strategic priorities that will guide the district’s work over the next five years:
- Success for All Learners
The district supports every learner to achieve their highest potential.
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
District environments are equitable and inclusive so all members of the school community can participate with dignity, purpose and options while experiencing a strong sense of belonging. These environments will also support individuals in expressing their identities with confidence in the world.
- Organizational Effectiveness
The district aligns resource allocation with the board's mandate and priorities.
- Community and Partnerships
Gather meaningful input and deepen collaboration with students, staff, families and partner groups to enhance learning, well-being and success for all.
Together, these priorities provide a clear framework for decision-making and planning across the district. They will guide how the district allocates resources, measures progress and works collectively to support students and staff over the coming years.
The Board of Education and the district leadership team extend their sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the development of the strategic plan. The time, insight and care provided throughout this process helped shape a plan that reflects our shared values, aspirations and commitment to the Richmond learning community.
As the district moves into implementation, the strategic plan will serve as a unifying guide for collective action and accountability. Progress will be monitored over time, with a continued focus on transparency, engagement and collaboration as we work together to support every learner.
The full strategic plan is available on the district website, and we encourage everyone to explore the plan to better understand the priorities and direction guiding our work over the next five years.
