Gift Card Fundraiser Forms & FAQ

Gift Card FAQ:

1. Where are the gift cards from?

A. This fundraiser is run through Progressive Fundraising.They approach the companies on the form and arrange to purchase gift cards from them at a discounted price.

2. How does Whiteside earn a profit from this fundraiser?

A. Progressive Fundraising negotiates a discounted rate for gift cards from various companies and passes the savings onto Whiteside.Progressive Fundraising charges a flat fee for processing the order.

3. Why do companies offer a discount to Progressive Fundraising?

A. There are several reasons why a company may offer a discount including, but not limited to the following: it’s a marketing expense to generate customer loyalty, the company has reduced costs for credit card processing fees on gift cards, and the company realizes that not all gift cards will be redeemed even though they've already collected payment.

4. Are the gift cards for a lower amount?

A. No, the gift card will be the same as the purchase price.For example, a $10 Starbucks card will come loaded with $10 that can be redeemed at Starbucks.

5. Do the gift cards expire?

A. No, most gift cards do not expire.Promotional gift cards may have an expiry date.For example, the Bonus $10 card with the purchase of a $25 Old Spaghetti Factory card must be redeemed between January 2 and March 15, 2018; however, there is no expiry on the $25 card.

6. What information do I need to fill out?

A. Please indicate what gift cards by denomination that you would like to purchase.At the top of the form, please make sure to include: your first and last name, your contact information (phone number and email address), your child’s name and division, and if applicable, the name of the adult you would like to pick up the cards.Please note that due to the value of orders and the time of year the PAC will not distribute orders to classrooms to have students bring them home.If you are unable to pick up your order on the designated pick up days, please indicate on the form the name of the individual you authorize to pick up on your behalf.

7. Why do you need my contact information?

A. The PAC would contact you for the following reasons: there is a calculation error or other mistake that impacts your order and we need to confirm how we should process your order; there is change to the pick up schedule and we would like to inform you; or you have not picked up the items on the scheduled pick up days and we would like to remind you of your order.This information is not shared with Progressive Fundraising or the company from which you have purchased a gift card.

8. What do the percentages mean?

A. The percentages indicate the discount rate that Progressive Fundraising has negotiated with each company or the amount that will be reimbursed to Whiteside for the purchase of a gift card.For example, on the $10 Starbucks card Whiteside would be reimbursed for $0.50 per card ($10 * 5%).

9. Do I get to choose what the gift cards look like?

A. No, there is no choice on what the gift cards will look like.Please note that due to the season some gift cards may have a holiday theme.

10. When are orders due?

A. Orders are due November 22, 2017.Late orders will not be accepted.

11. How can I pay?

A. Pay via cash or cheque issued to “Whiteside PAC”.

12. When can I pick up?

A. The pick up schedule is as follows.If there are any changes, the PAC will notify you via email or phone call.Look for PAC members in the school gym or foyer for pick up.
