Message from the Principal - Terry Fox Run on Friday

September 21, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to week three at Whiteside!  This week, we are incorporating transitional learning into our programming and are happy to be engaging with the whole Whiteside community.  We encourage families at home to connect with the activities happening at the school, which this week will be our annual Terry Fox celebration.  While students at home won’t be at the school to run with us, they can participate by helping their classrooms collect money for the cause.

This year is the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope!  On Friday, September 25th, we will be having our annual Terry Fox run.  While the event will look a little different this year, we don’t want to miss out on the importance of recognizing the many challenges Terry rose above on his Marathon of Hope.  Students are encouraged to wear red and white (e.g., Canada Day shirts or Terry Fox t-shirts) to show school spirit.  Students will be running separately with their individual cohorts out on the field.  The event will take place rain or shine, so please ensure your child is prepared and dressed for the weather.  Due to the new safety protocols, unfortunately, we are unable to welcome family participation this year.

We would also like to celebrate the continued effects of Terry’s run by raising money to find a cure for cancer.  Please make all donations through School Cash Online at:  https://richmondsd38.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/32386/125/False/True

Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,

Rachael Corneil

Principal
